Measure Pupillary Distance
Pupillary Distance (PD) measure the distance between the centers of two pupils.
Pupillary distance can be measured in two ways.
Single (Binocular PD): The distance between the centers of the two pupils. (1 PD value, e.g. 63)
Dual (Monocular PD) Each PD indicates the distance from each pupil to the bridge of the nose. (1 PD value for each eye, e.g. 31/32)
Ask your doctor for a full prescription with your pupillary distance (PD) indicated. We require your PD measurement to align the optical center of the lenses to your pupils. This ensures that the glasses give you the sharpest vision possible.
If you see two PD values each with higher number like 63/60. That means your doctor have given you PD for both Distance/Reading. In this case, 63 is your Distance Binocular PD, 60 is your Near PD (for reading glasses only).
How to Measure PD by Yourself
In case that your prescription does not include PD value,
you can use the following two methods to measure PD by yourself
What you need
A millimeter ruler or download a printable ruler
A well-lit environment (In a bright environment, your pupils will reduce in size and become more visible. This makes it easier to take the measurements, especially if your eyes are of a darker hue).
A mirror or an assistant.
BY USING A RULER
This measurement gives you the value for your Distance PD. If you need your PD for prescription reading glasses (farsightedness), then you need your Near PD, which is the PD value you've measured minus 3mm (e.g. Distance PD 63, Near PD: 63-3=60mm).
Before taking your photo, be sure to have adequate lighting and avoid a busy backdrop
Take off your glasses. Hold your head upright, look straight ahead, and gaze directly into the camera
Grab a credit card with the magnet strip on the topside showing facing the camera, and hold it horizontally below your nose. The card should be parallel and touch your face. (Don’t show your card number)
Position yourself approximately 30 cm from your computer screen/phone, snap the picture, email us alone with your order confirmation number, and we’ll do the measuring for you.
